Doctor Who Series 9: the Recap
What a season. Doctor Who has had its ups and downs, pluses and minuses, but when it pulls through, it really pulls through. Rather than coyly caging my opinion of this season, particularly the finale, I’m just going to say … Continue reading
Legendary: Dark City Expansion
As fun as the base game of Legendary: A Marvel Deck Building Game is, from the start there was always room for additions and improvements. Those upgrades have come in six expansions since Legendary’s creation in 2012, the most recent … Continue reading

So maybe you’ve seen some of my earlier anime posts, maybe you haven’t. Maybe you’re just curious about this “anime” thing. You might have read my introductory anime post and wondered “okay, so now where do I go?” Now’s when … Continue reading

Over the Garden Wall: Macabre, Weird, and Delightful
Over the Garden Wall is a lovely little gem that I’d completely forgotten about until I recently rewatched the first two chapters with friends. It’s a surreal autumny story about two brothers lost, wandering through woods filled with strange, spooky … Continue reading

Review: The Man in the High Castle
As we know, Amazon, like Netflix, has been getting into producing their own shows. So far, Netflix has hit the jackpot, with shows like Daredevil and the continuation of Longmire. Amazon, not so much. I watched the trailer for their … Continue reading
Review: Supergirl
My name is Kara Zor-el” … and she spent 5 years on an island. No, wait, that’s Oliver Queen. My, does Greg Berlanti love that opening. Anyway, a feeling of excitement and dread followed the announcement of a Supergirl show. The … Continue reading
Honor Harrington is a Friend of Mine
I had never heard of Honor Harrington at all until just last year, when Matthew finally insisted — rather than suggest — that I read On Basilisk Station, by David Weber. Oh, sure, he might have mentioned it a time … Continue reading

Review: Liberation
Well, we come now to book three in the I Am Margaret series, and I have to say, I’m starting to fall off the bandwagon. I know, and I’m sorry to have to say it, but there it is. Once … Continue reading
Review: The Three Most Wanted
There’s no way I could review I Am Margaret and just leave it at that. It would be thoroughly against my nature to leave the series unfinished without addressing each installment in turn. And, of course, it’s a good series, so … Continue reading

Quick Anime Review: School-Live!
Sometimes, a show winds up doing something unforgettable. It might not have been the best show you’ve seen, but that one moment, that narrative whammy that it pulled on you just once, is something you take away from you. It’s … Continue reading
Review: I Am Margaret
I was asked to do a review on I Am Margaret by Corinna Turner, published by our friends at Chesterton Press.Being a good and friendly blogger, I agreed, and even though I was a bit wary at the description at … Continue reading

Heroes Reborn: the Series Returns
I really didn’t know what to think when I heard that Heroes was going to be returning to TV. I definitely have a complex sort of relationship with the show, thanks to its ups and downs, and so I didn’t … Continue reading
Quick Anime Review: Yona of the Dawn
Sometimes, you go into a show not really expecting to be blown away. Sure, a lot of people you know are hyping it up, but cmon now, we all know they don’t have your discerning taste. Joking aside (well, partial … Continue reading
Jessica Jones is Not a Morning Person
We take a break from Pope Francis coverage (because you can be certain that that topic isn’t over just yet, even if it feels like it’s been done to death) to cover the other half of our blog title. https://youtu.be/eQ3s178GW0Q Yes, … Continue reading

Review: The Player
Wesley Snipes is allowed to be on television? I thought he was condemned to be doing direct to DVD films for the rest of his natural life. Anyway, The Player opens with Snipes over a dead body. Ex-FBI agent Alex Kane is … Continue reading
Review: Scream Queens
Holy Hell, that was the most bizarre show I think I’ve sat through (and tolerated) in years. Perhaps ever. Imagine one of the vapid sorority girls from Buffy The Vampire Slayer … the movie … and imagine one of them narrating … Continue reading
A New Look at Star Wars via Webcomic Style
When I was younger my family had just moved again. We were staying at a hotel and to alleviate the boredom of looking at generic walls and network TV my dad took my brothers and me to run some errands. … Continue reading →
