In addition to it being the Meanest Monday, it’s also the tastiest and most irrational day on the calendar — Pi Day!
As holidays go, it’s one of the weirder ones. Of course, what do you expect from a celebration of a pun?
And one good pun deserves another.
What’s that you say? No such thing as a good pun? I guess it’s all Greek to you.
Okay, that one might be a little obscure. But this is a Catholic blog. Surely there are some Greek speakers in the audience!
Of course, this is also the day when most of the rest of the Western world just smiles and nods, since the first pun only works if you’re using the weird date format.
Still, the timing can make for interesting coincidences.
But it’s not just about puns today. Sometimes you get fun experiments.
And if you really think about it, the number pi also has deep significance.
And in addition to all of that, pi also contains stuff that we wish existed elsewhere.
So yes, our celebration of Pi Day is pretty irrational; but so is the source material. Just relax, have some pie, attempt to wrap your mind around the complexities of the universe, and remember: math is delicious!
This is cool! And my birthday is pi/e day, so it’s even better:)
Also, Firefly!
