Independence Day Short Stories

Liberty Island (a right-wing entertainment website and publisher) occasionally sponsors short fiction contests. The most recent was their “July 4th Blockbuster Fiction Contest.”

Why is this relevant, aside from the fact that today is July 4th? Well, you can read two stories there by two Catholic Geeks authors!

Our own Lori Janeski placed second in the contest, with her short story “Rangers Vs. Aliens.” Aliens invade Texas through a portal in downtown Fort Worth. The downside for them is that the portal also creates superheroes. Don’t mess with Super-Texans!

I also entered, with a much more laid-back story titled “Day of Honor.” What happens when aliens try to comprehend the Fourth of July? (I got Honorable Mention, which I swear isn’t a pun.)

You can read these and five more stories over at Liberty Island. Enjoy!

About Matthew Bowman

Matthew Bowman is a traditionally-minded Catholic convert and freelance science fiction and fantasy editor, which means that he's in high demand in a small population. Fortunately, he loves talking about stories. And Catholicism. And history. And philosophy. And lots of other stuff.
